The "Carrick Community" is a loose network of activists, volunteers, and citizens who live, or work, in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. This website is a communication tool to inform, inspire, and facilitate individuals on the network. We are dedicated to the concept: "When people of like minds get together, Good Things happen!"
Current events! Carrick Community Council Next meeting is October 8th at 7:00pm in Concord Elementary School Auditorium. Enter through the front doors. Elections for the Board will be held at the November Meeting. 4 Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and 7 additional "at large" Board Members will be elected. Interested Persons should contact the Nominations Committee: Kate (kt.thomes@verizon.net), Brandon (brandondilla@gmail.com), or T.J. (nuvoyinzer1@verizon.net) to give their name or suggest another candidate. 29th Ward Democrats Next Meeting Wednesday October 1 at 7:00 pm in the Library. Guest Speaker James Fogarty, a field director form the OBAMA campaign will talk about how South Pittsburghers can get out the vote.
Second meeting October 29th also at 7:00pm in the Library.

Carrick Litter Patrol- Currently need volunteers to be Adopta-Block-Custodians (ABCs) on local streets. Also, organizing a mini-event to clean up City Stairs in Carrick. Green-Up Program- City program to renovate a vacant lot in the neighborhood with native, low-maintenance plants and shrubs. Volunteers needed to maintain the lot. Contact Alice. Tree Tending Program- Non-Profit program to train "tree tenders" to maintain trees along Brownsville Rd. Pittsburgh Friends of the Urban Forest (PFUF) is the sponsoring organization. Contact Alice. Streetscape Committee- A program through the Mayor's Office to get items to the Business District to clean it up and make it look better. Volunteers needed. Contact Mary Angela. Public Safety - 311 Call Coordination- Community effort through the e-mail list to track 311 calls to the City. Carrick-Overbrook Historical Society- Created to research and preserve the history of Carrick. Help spread the word and educate the community about local history to increase the pride, awareness, and respect of the neighborhood. Contact John and/or Joe. Carrick Goes Gardening- Gardening Contest for 2008 is intended to encourage and recognise the efforts of Carrick residents and businesses to beautify and enhance our community.
